Learning a Second Language
I have ALWAYS wanted to learn a second language. Sounds silly, but it made me feel like it was some secret code or language that nobody else understood. Obviously depending on who you are surrounded by and who understands the language defeats the purpose, but I would listen to people talk in their languages and be so fascinated by how I have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.
One of the languages I have always wanted to speak fluently in is SPANISH! After teaching myself roughly through YouTube videos and apps, I decided to invest in a tutor to learn Spanish.
This has been an amazing for me because I have started from the very beginning and have been going step by step to learn the language properly. I am learning how to read, write, and speak in Spanish. I won’t lie, it can be frustrating and difficult at times, but I have a very patient tutor who motivates me to keep learning. Find a language you are interested in and a culture you like.
As well, find a purpose for why you are learning the language. For example, one of my main reasons I want to learn Spanish is because my partner and his family speak fluently in Spanish. Last year, we traveled to Ecuador and knowing how to speak Spanish would have made me feel more comfortable when talking to his extended family and to communicate with the locals there. Having a purpose for why you want to learn your chosen language will be your motivation to keep practicing.
Here are some amazing benefits to learning a second language.
