Why You Need A Food Journal

Have you ever thought about keeping a food journal? If not, read below on why I love to log my food. When I first started my healthy lifestyle journey, I started a food journal and it was the most beneficial thing I did to help keep myself of track.

One of the main reasons I started using a journal was to figure out what food sensitivities I had. Through my journal, I was able to log the foods I had eaten and determine what foods were causing me to get stomach cramps, feeling bloated, or an overall discomfort.

Keeping a food journal allowed me to track the types of food I was consuming and to see if I was eating too little or too much of something. Monitoring my protein, carbohydrates, and fat intake was essential to leading a healthy lifestyle. As well as to make sure I was getting enough of my vitamins and minerals through food.

I was able to manage my proportions by planning when and what I was going to eat throughout the day. Writing down everything you eat can help you determine what is holding you back from your weight loss. Knowing that you have to log in that you ate a bunch of mini donuts will make you think twice the next time you eat a lot of unhealthy foods.

Overall it was beneficial to me because it helped me to determine if the food I was consuming was triggered by something. For example, if I was overthinking and feeling stressed I would result to eating too fast and emotional eating. Through food journaling you can determine the exact causes that are preventing you from your progress to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Do not feel like you have to journal for the rest of your life. You eventually create healthy habits and are automatically more mindful to the food you are consuming. I usually keep my food journal strictly to see if there are other food sensitivities that arise, but other than that, I have adapted proper nutrition into my lifestyle.

YOU CAN TOO! Grab and journal and start writing ~ EJL
