Tips for Healthy Skin

Here are some tips on how to keep your skin healthy all year round!

  1. MOISTURIZE - seems pretty obvious, but during the winter your skin dries much faster, therefore it requires a lot more attention. I like to cleanse my face before bed and then apply 2-3 different natural night creams to hydrate my face after a cold winter’s day.

2. Limit Hot Showers - Although it may be tempting to take a long hot shower, it makes your skin dry out much faster. Try switching out a hot shower for a warm shower instead.

3. Fragrance-Free - When purchasing facial creams, body lotion, or soaps - choose fragrance-free products or ones that have the word “fragrance” as the final ingredient. Therefore, you know that there was not a lot of “fragrance'“ used in your chosen product. Fragrances can cause irritation to your skin and dry it out. Don’t be fooled when the product says unscented because it still can have fragrance in the ingredients.

4. Apply Sunscreen - You would think during the winter or on those gray, cloudy days you would not need to apply sunscreen right? - WRONG! The sun can reflect the UV rays through clouds or even during the bright winter days through reflection. To avoid sun spots and to protect your skin overall, use SPF 15 and apply that to your face in the morning.

5. Stay Hydrated - Last, but not least, the most common solution is to stay hydrated. Do not neglect drinking water because it is key to healthy looking, glowing skin.
