Side, Back, Or Stomach: Sleeping Positions
I was always curious about what sleeping position was best for me and I have listed the pros and cons of each sleeping position. I usually like to alternate between my left and right when sleeping on my side. I avoid sleeping on my stomach at all times.
Side Sleeping Position:
Pros:
Help spine alignment
Less chance of snoring
·Prevents lower back pain or stiffness, and acid reflux
Cons:
Potential risk of causing neck or back pain due to lack of firm pillow
Sleeping only on the left side can put strain on your internal organs (it is recommended to alternate sides during the night)
Back Sleeping Position:
Pros:
Helps spine alignment
Prevents getting a tense neck (make sure you have a supportive pillow)
Allows for better circulation as your weight is evenly disturbed on your back and neck.
Cons:
Higher risk of snoring
Neck pain due to lack of proper pillow support
Stomach Sleeping Position:
Pro:
Prevents snoring
Con:
Pressure on spine and ruins alignment
Pressure on your body (muscles and joints)
May cause stress on you back and neck
